About WildaStays
A small, considered list of places to stay.
WildaStays is a directory of nature-friendly holiday stays in the Cambrian Mountains and Mid Wales — put together by people who spend most of their time thinking about wildflower meadows, hedgerows and the wildlife that depends on them.
We’re not trying to list everywhere. We’re trying to point people toward the handful of places where the land is being looked after and the hosts understand what a genuinely quiet, restorative holiday looks like — meadows humming with bees, dark skies overhead, and enough walking on the doorstep that the car keys can stay in the drawer.
What we look for
A stay makes it onto WildaStays when it sits somewhere genuinely rural — meadows, woodland or water on the doorstep, not just a distant view. We look for evidence that the land itself is being cared for: hedgerows left standing, grass cut for wildlife rather than tidiness, ponds and field margins made room for. Peace and low light pollution matter more here than luxury extras. There should be walking straight from the door, and hosts who welcome the sort of guest who’s coming to slow down and notice things.
That’s why the list stays small. If a stay trades mostly on hot tubs and interior styling rather than the ground it’s built on, it isn’t for us — and that’s fine, other directories do it better.
Who's behind it
WildaStays is run independently by a small team based in Mid Wales who work with British native wildflowers and habitat restoration day to day. We visit or personally know the places we list.
