Do wildflowers like sun or shade?

Most species of wildflower in the UK prefer sun, but certain types are suitable for shade and woodland. You will mostly find shade-tolerant wildflowers on the edge of the wood or at the bottom of hedgerows.

Shade tolerant wildflowers have adapted to living in the cooler conditions on the periphery of woodland and hedges but with the ability to get some sunlight during the day.
