Woodland Wildflower Bulb Collection

A generous five-species collection for creating a woodland-floor display under trees or in damper, shaded parts of the garden. Each pack contains 185 bulbs: 10 Wild Daffodil (Narcissus pseudonarcissus), 25 Snake’s Head Fritillary (Fritillaria meleagris), 50 Bluebell (Hyacinthoides non-scripta), 50 Snowdrop (Galanthus nivalis) and 50 Winter Aconite (Eranthis hyemalis).

Planted together, the five give a long run of colour: Winter Aconite and Snowdrop in January to March, Wild Daffodil in March and April, Snake’s Head Fritillary in April and May, and Bluebell from April into June. All prefer moist, humus-rich soil and dappled shade, with the fritillary happiest where the ground stays damp through spring — the margins of a pond or a low-lying stretch of grass suit it well.

A note on origin: Wild Daffodil, Bluebell and Snowdrop are UK native species. Winter Aconite and Snake’s Head Fritillary are listed by our supplier as non-UK-native. The collection is intended for woodland-garden and ornamental naturalising rather than native habitat restoration.

Plant in autumn, September to November. As a guide: daffodils at 10–15cm depth, fritillaries at 10–15cm, bluebells and snowdrops at 5–10cm, and winter aconite at around 5cm, all scattered in loose drifts. Leave foliage to die back naturally after flowering, and delay mowing in grass until it has withered.

Supplied as dry bulbs and tubers for autumn planting.
