What we supply in bulk
Standard meadow mixes
Every Wildahome meadow mix is available as a 100% wildflower blend or as an 80/20 blend of fine native grasses and wildflowers. Match the mix to the soil:
| Site and soil | Mix |
|---|---|
| Chalk and limestone | Chalk and limestone mix |
| Heavy clay | Heavy clay mix |
| Sandy, acid or upland soils | Acidic soils mix |
| Hedge banks, boundaries and slopes | Hedgerow and banks mix |
| Wet ground, ponds, swales and SuDS basins | Wetland and pond mix |
| Coastal sites | Coastal mix |
| Mixed or unknown ground | General purpose mix |
| First-year colour on disturbed ground | Cornfield annuals |
Not sure which format to use? Our guide to 80/20 vs 100% wildflower seed mixes explains when each one suits.
County-sourced seed
For schemes near wildlife sites, in protected landscapes, or where the planning condition or ecologist asks for local provenance, we supply county-sourced wildflower seed for most English counties. Tell us the site location and we will confirm what is available.
Bespoke mixes
Where a standard mix doesn’t fit, we can put together a bespoke wildflower seed mix for a particular habitat target, soil, height limit or species list.
Yellow rattle and seed mats
We also supply yellow rattle in quantity for over-sowing existing grassland, and wildflower seed mats for small, high-visibility areas and gentle slopes.
How much seed do you need?
Our standard sowing rates are 3 g per square metre for a 100% wildflower mix and 5 g per square metre for an 80/20 mix. Add up to 30% on slopes and when over-sowing into existing grass.
| Area | 100% wildflower at 3 g/m² | 80/20 at 5 g/m² |
|---|---|---|
| 100 m² | 0.3 kg | 0.5 kg |
| 500 m² | 1.5 kg | 2.5 kg |
| 1,000 m² | 3 kg | 5 kg |
| 0.5 ha (5,000 m²) | 15 kg | 25 kg |
| 1 ha (10,000 m²) | 30 kg | 50 kg |
For other areas, use our seed coverage calculator. Smaller quantities can be bought directly from the shop. For larger quantities, multi-site orders and repeat supply, ask us for a quote.

- What you know about the soil: chalk, clay, sand, wet, or made ground.

- Whether local provenance is required.
- When you plan to sow, and the delivery address.

Support for your specification and contractors
We can provide the species list and proportions for any mix we quote, so it can go into a specification, ecology report or landscape management plan. We can also advise on:
- Ground preparation, including when to strip topsoil and how to deal with fertile or weedy ground.
- Sowing method and timing. The best window is mid-August to late October, with spring as the alternative.
- First-year establishment cuts and long-term cutting regimes.
- Over-sowing existing grassland with yellow rattle.
Our guides on how to establish a wildflower meadow, how to sow yellow rattle and large-scale wildflower projects cover the methods in detail and can be shared with site teams.
Provenance you can rely on
There is currently no audited UK certification scheme for the provenance of native wildflower seed, so it pays to ask suppliers exactly where their seed comes from. We tell you plainly what each mix contains and where county-sourced seed has come from, so your ecologist and planning authority can see what has been sown.
Sectors we work with

Frequently Asked Questions
Do you supply wildflower seed in bulk for trade customers?
Yes. We supply native wildflower and grass seed in bulk to landscape contractors, developers, ecologists, councils, estates and farms. Send us the site location, area, soil type and sowing date and we will quote for suitable mixes and quantities.
How much wildflower seed do I need per hectare?
Sow a 100% wildflower mix at 3 g per square metre, which is 30 kg per hectare, or an 80/20 grass and wildflower mix at 5 g per square metre, which is 50 kg per hectare. Add up to 30% on slopes and when over-sowing into existing grass.
Can you supply locally sourced wildflower seed for a planning condition?
Yes. We supply county-sourced wildflower seed for most English counties. Tell us the site location and any provenance requirement in the planning condition or ecology report, and we will confirm what is available.
Can you make up a bespoke wildflower seed mix for a specification?
Yes. We can put together a bespoke mix to match a habitat target, soil type, height limit or species list, and provide the species list and proportions for your specification or management plan.
Which wildflower seed mix should I use for a Biodiversity Net Gain scheme?
Choose the mix that matches the soil and the habitat your metric targets, such as other neutral grassland, calcareous grassland or acid grassland. Our BNG page explains how wildflower grassland is scored, and we can recommend mixes for each habitat.
When should bulk wildflower seed be sown?
The best window is mid-August to late October, while the soil is still warm. Spring sowing from March to May is the alternative, but yellow rattle must be sown in autumn. Let us know your sowing date when you ask for a quote.
What information do you need to quote for bulk wildflower seed?
The site location, the area to be sown, whether it is bare ground or existing grass, the soil type, any habitat target or species list, whether local provenance is required, your sowing date and the delivery address.
