Wildflower Favourites Bulb Collection (Bluebell, Snowdrop, Winter Aconite)
£69.60 – £216.00Price range: £69.60 through £216.00 inc VAT
A simple, well-matched collection of three early bulbs that together give colour from the depths of winter through to early summer. Each pack contains equal quantities of English Bluebell (Hyacinthoides non-scripta), Common Snowdrop (Galanthus nivalis) and Winter Aconite (Eranthis hyemalis).
The sequence runs like this: Winter Aconite opens first, with low golden flowers in January and February; the snowdrops follow and overlap through February and March; and the bluebells take over from April into June with scented violet-blue spikes. All three enjoy the same conditions โ moist, humus-rich ground in the dappled shade of deciduous trees and shrubs โ so they can be planted together in one area and left to naturalise.
A note on origin: the Bluebell and Snowdrop are UK native species, while Winter Aconite is a non-UK-native plant long naturalised in British gardens. This collection is therefore best thought of as a woodland-garden planting rather than a native habitat mix.
Plant all three in autumn, September to November, at around 5โ10cm depth and 5โ10cm apart, scattering them in drifts rather than rows. Leave the foliage to die back naturally after flowering and, in grass, wait until it has withered before cutting.
Supplied as dry bulbs and tubers for autumn planting.
